Plans by Worcester-based North Oak Homes to build 44 new houses on land just off the A40 on the Gloucester side of Lea were unanimously rejected by the village's parish council at an extraordinary general meeting held in Lea Village Hall last Wednesday. The proposal was further condemned by some 30 villagers present, by a show of hands. Villagers expressed fears that building on land adjacent to Lea Hall Cottage would put Lea at even greater risk of surface water flooding than it is already and place even more pressure on the sewage system.
