MADAM, BOB Jenkins of Lea is collecting and collating information on the
men named on the Lea War Memorial in the church to put together an information package on them and we need some help!! Do you know the following names? Were they your grandfather, great-uncle, father, brother, uncle? The names are on the War Memorial in Lea Church and we would like to put together an information booklet as a further memorial to these men and their connection to Lea. Bob has been researching through the War Office and local records, but has found limited or no information. It could be that these men were known by other names, such as second names or
nicknames which the official records would not show. From World War 1 - Allan Young, Harry Andrew, Alfred Gwilliam, William Guilford, Frederick James Pope (possibly from Aston Crews area). From World War 2 - Alfred Victor Rushworth (possibly from Coughton area). There is also a military grave for a J Grey awarded the Military Cross in1918 who died in 1943 and who had served in the North Lancs Royal Dragoon Guards. With the growth of interest in genealogy and family trees, we would like to make sure that these brave men and their histories are not forgotten and can be easily found by future generations. If you can help please e-mail Bob on [email protected]">[email protected] or telephone 01989 750469. Marion Martin, Lea Bailey Hill
