LEAF Creative Gardens has secured another prestigious Gold Medal for the Blue Diamond Group at this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show, delivering an immersive walk-through garden experience situated in the heart of the Great Pavilion.
The ambitious garden installation, designed by Peter Dowle and Angela Delaney, transported visitors through a series of richly planted spaces, beginning with a tropical plant house framed by a dramatic wall of orchids before opening into an exotic shade garden featuring tree ferns, Aspidistras and Fatsias.
But it’s not the first time the local designers, based at Huntley, have won a Gold Medal at Chelsea Flower Show, having already created 27 show gardens and worked with many other top designers throughout the period winning many gold medals along the way.
This year’s exhibit features a spectacular four-metre-wide waterfall and reflective pool forming the centrepiece of the scheme, creating a tranquil and atmospheric environment.
This is followed by moving into a contemporary walled garden showcasing a vertical edible wall planted with salads and herbs, before arriving in the ‘Tapestry Garden’ - a modern interpretation of the traditional cottage garden style.
The display also attracted royal attention, with both The King and Queen stopping to enquire about the planting within the front border.
Particular interest was shown by the Royals in a striking five-metre flowering dogwood, Cornus kousa ‘Constellation’, adorned with masses of white bracts.
Mr Dowle said: “This is a huge deal for Leaf Creative Gardens and our fabulous team, and we are delighted to be able to deliver this scheme for Blue Diamond Garden Centres, including our former sister company Leaf Creative at Huntley, now proudly part of the group.
“Shows like Chelsea are incredibly challenging and to be awarded a Gold medal is such an incredible achievement. It just goes to show what a team can do.”
