Drum teacher, Shelly Garratt, is currently running a drum class at the Larruperz Centre in Ross-on-Wye, for ages four to 17 on Thursday evenings from 6pm-7pm.
Shelly, who was taught by one of the best drum teachers in the world, studied at Yardleys School of Music in Birmingham.
She also teaches at John Kyrle High School, where her adult classes have run for 10 years, producing some outstanding drummers who are now playing in bands themselves.
She holds a wealth of experience, playing with an award winning show band and supporting a well known rock artist.
Shelly is also in the final stage of her self penned album ‘Hybrid’ with her band XPO-RV, which is due to be released this year alongside the video for their single ‘Sunblind.’
Shelly told the Ross Gazette: “I have lived in the Ross area for 11 years and now run my own business, so I thought it would be good to set up a drum class for children, as there is not anything in the town.
She added: “I have missed teaching kids since leaving the Thorns Arts Academy, at which I taught for six years, and I had great results with kids with disabilities.
“It is lovely to see kids whom I have taught go on to be great drummers with a hint of my own style in there. There is nothing better.”
Shelly is offering a free taster session, after which the class will be £8.00, with a half price reduction for siblings. Drum sticks are provided.
Shelly can be contacted by emailing: [email protected] or by phoning the Larruperz Cenre on 01989 565465.
