The Adult and Community Learning Centre at John Kyrle High School in Ross-on-Wye opened in February 2006. Over 5000 people have used the centre in its first five years with over 200 adult learners now using the facility on a weekly basis.
The centre is also a base for clubs and societies, a venue for practical and advanced IT courses, five foreign languages are offered, together with basic skills and a range of recreational courses.
There are also opportunities for people and employers to improve their workplace skills and qualifications together with free advice sessions for people who are thinking of starting their own business.
All of the courses are run in a relaxed and friendly environment with many free opportunities for learners and other courses at some of the lowest costs to be found.
On Tuesday, May 17th (6 -8pm) the centre will be helping to celebrate Adult Learners' Week with a special event to promote the courses on offer. There will be an emphasis on foreign languages as people began their preparations for the holiday season. Free taster sessions will be held in Italian, French, Spanish, German and Russian and learners will have the opportunity to learn more about each country as well as enjoying some refreshments including a complimentary glass of wine.
Following on from this event the centre will be offering a five week language for holiday course in four of the languages absolutely free.
