Madam, I note with horror that a planning application has been made to build ten more houses on the edge of Lea.
Horror because, if permission is granted, the development will place yet more pressure on the village's inadequate sewers - residents already regularly report raw sewage flowing into their gardens - and drainage system.
The site selected is prone to flooding and building on it will increase the danger of surface water flooding elsewhere because there will be less opportunity for the water to drain away.
Furthermore, residents have reported sightings of water voles and grass snakes on the site concerned, not to mention frogs and toads. Their habitat should not be destroyed.
Add to that problems with access and I cannot believe that this unwanted development will be sanctioned.
Stephen Banner, Lea
