Madam, With the mainstream media still a little over-addicted to disaster-related sensationalism, ratings-driven agendas and recriminations, I was hoping that, locally, there may soon be sensible opportunities for folks here to do something more than emote, and get what's most needed, now, to those affected by the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

I don't mean donations of money so much, but instead more tangible useful items that may make a difference. A blanket in a loft or a tent in a shed being kept for a 'rainy day' might still make a difference. It just needs a system to get such items from a home to a town centre to a city warehouse to a plane to the ground there. All within a sensible timeframe.

If such a thing is of value and exists, I'd love to know about it.
