Dear Editor
Ross-on-Wye Choral Society, with their Conductor Adrian Taylor, are joined by Soloists Rosie Taylor, Ben Cox, Nicholas Perfect and organist Laurence John, to bring you a mystical concert which will take place on Saturday 1st December in St Mary’s Parish Church, Ross-on-Wye, starting at 7.30pm.
On offer are J S Bach’s motivating Cantata BWV 140, Watchet Auf (Sleepers, awake!), complemented by a selection of choral carols both rich and rare in their harmonies and originality, such as Howells’ Spotless Rose and Warlock’s Bethlehem Down, together with other familiar titles such as No small wonder (which gives the concert its title), O Magnum mysterium, Still still still, Lully lulla, A maiden most gentle, and Tomorrow shall be my dancing day. The concert will also include lively organ solos from Laurence John, and the opportunity for refreshments during the interval. Tickets £15 (under 18s £5) from River Music, 26 Broad Street, Ross, or Ticket Secretary (01989 563 328), or on the door.
It all promises to be a very enjoyable prelude to Christmas, and we look forward to seeing your readers there.
Fenny Smith
