On October 27th the RCLCUC reached a staggering figure of 1007 bags of litter collected during 2019, a combined weight circa five tons.

Our amazing volunteers have heaved heavy and small items pulled from hedgerows and ditches across the town to ensure this rubbish no longer pollutes, poisons, harms our wildlife and spoils the look of our beautiful town.

We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone of the individuals in the group from group picks to Solo picks it has all counted.

If you’ve shared on social media, offered tea or just stopped to say thanks. It’s never gone unnoticed.

We have enjoyed joining forces with a number of groups and organisations some special mentions to 1st Bridstow Brownies, Ross Cubs and Beavers, Walford Scouts, Ross Lions, Sainsbury’s Ross, Ashfield School student council, and Ross Court - these have all rolled up their sleeves and helped spread the word.

We’ve been encouraged as EDMO, KFC and Vimto have helped address an unadopted road. They have proved some businesses do care.

We have also been supported by Ross Town Council, The Ross Gazette, the Herefordshire Stop the Drop Team and Balfour Beatty.

Finally a big shout out to Colin - the guy that has to load his lorry with all the stuff we collect.

2019 is not over yet and we are excited about the royal visit. We are also planning for next year so if you’ve not had the chance to get involved or are a school or youth group that would like to know more about litter and the harm it does - we are still going to be continuing.
