Dear Editor
An article in the Ross Gazette a couple of weeks ago indicated that the plans for the housing development in Merrivale Lane had been turned down by the Planning Authority. The reason given was that the proposed development for ten houses was an inefficient use of the paddock area in question
My concern, and that of other residents, is that there are major safety issues today when entering Merrivale Lane from Alton Street, as well as getting in and out of the Gresleys, Blake Avenue and Princess Way due to the line of legally parked cars.
The very idea of a T junction from the proposed development into this problem area is an irresponsible design.
The reason I highlight this again is that the reason the planning application has been turned down makes no reference to road safety, only inefficient use of space! Do we anticipate a resubmission of the planning application but for a lot more houses?
Finally, does the Planning Authority actually ever listen to serious concerns raised by residents?
