Dear Editor

As a non driving pensioner I was looking forward to shopping somewhere nearer to home than the overcrowded Morrisons and Aldi.

The proposed new Lidl would have been ideal for me and I’m sure for many other residents in Hildersley.

It would have been a chance to shop on a Sunday as there are no buses here on Sundays. I am still hopeful that Lidl may appeal the decision made and that the Herefordshire Counciil planners can think again about the present residents and the future ones.

The proposed housing development which is planned for Hildersley will benefit from a supermarket this side of the town.

I am pretty certain that trees will be felled for the housing development so why not for a much needed supermarket here.

More houses means more people wanting to work locally, another reason for passing the Lidl plans.

As for the detrimental affect on the town, I don’t believe that.

Supermarkets do not kill towns, I’m pretty sure business rates do that.
