Dear Editor

I was at the consultation meeting yesterday at Ashfield Park and have a few comments to make about the development.

All of the housing is “affordable” and I think this is absolutely something that should be encouraged and it is certainly something that is needed in Ross.

My concern with the development is the access.  Access onto Middleton Avenue has been discussed with the Highways Agency and is fine but there seems to have been no thought about how those additional cars access Archenfield Road.  If they continue along Middleton Avenue the road narrows to the width of one car or if they go along Redhill Road the visibility at the junction with Archenfield Road is very poor.  The people leading the consultation seemed unaware of these problems and were happy to leave it to the Highways Agency to resolve rather than the developers actually taking some positive action to ease the issues.

Without thought being given and action being taken about this issue, I am convinced there will be accidents, particularly at school drop off and collection times - let’s just hope they don’t involve any children. Thanks for allowing me to share my thoughts.
