Dear Editor

What a pleasant surprise  to see my old school featured in the Ross Gazette.

My father and uncle both attended the school, followed at a later date by myself and three sisters in our turn, and three of us are included in the photograph which featured in last week’s Ross Gazette.

My oldest sister having left, I would have been ten with just one more year before I left to go to Lucton School in north Herefordshire.

You mention the dozens of pairs of feet going up and down the staircase, this is most unlikely as only the top form was taught in the main building, the junior class was in a wooden building in the garden, and the next two in St Mary’s Hall there was a good deal of going up and down the stairs there, as we were on the second floor, I think there was another form in a building between the bowling club and the then weather station.

There was also a small field at this location for us to play games. During all this time the head mistress was a Miss Morling, her sister I believe did the cooking.
