Dear Editor
Thank you for printing the ‘pot-hole’ letter from Phil Angus last week. Over a year ago I wrote a letter (like Phil with a touch of whimsey included) on the disgraceful state of our roads. It prompted action – some potholes had yellow outlines painted round them.
But now the paint is fading and the holes are getting worse. A manageable problem a year or so ago has now become a major issue. And it won’t go away. And meanwhile motorists risk expensive damage to suspension, steering, wheels.
Where does ‘road safety’ fit into this? What will it take? Perhaps in the interest of road safety we should modify my tongue-in-cheek suggestion of a year ago and instead of parking above the holes why don’t we all go out and paint our holey roads with bright yellow warnings? It would save the council doing it again then the money saved could go toward the cost of repair. Just a thought.
