Dear Editor
I feel the need to respond to the letter from Mrs Fisher with reference to ‘Tennis Centre Impact.’
In the last year or so Ross Tennis Centre has been given a new lease of life, the club house has been totally renovated and the courts have been re-surfaced and painted. The club has a fantastic, enthusiastic new coaching team and the facility really is a huge asset to Ross town.
Ross in general has very poor sporting facilities particularly for children but this facility is very well attended by youngsters and adults alike but needs to improve and grow to allow and encourage greater attendance levels.
Whilst I appreciate that the club is on Mrs Fisher’s doorstep, she must have known this prior to purchasing the property. Tennis is not a loud game and noise is kept to a minimum and the only real noise is of children and adults having a great time and keeping fit.
The club has rules that encourage members to keep noise to a minimum during evening matches and the flood lights are not allowed to be used after 10pm.
I do appreciate the comments about parking but Ashfield Park Road has traditionally been used for parking for the tennis courts for years. I do agree the Crossfields Carpark could be used by tennis club members, perhaps the council could come up with a scheme in-conjunction with the club to make this a free parking area for tennis club members?
Also lighting is required along the path from the bowling club to the tennis centre to encourage the use of this carpark.
