Dear Editor

I would like to take this opportunity through your paper to thank those residents who elected me to Ross Town Council back in 2015. It has been a privilege to undertake this role and work with other like minded people over the last four years.

My time in office has been enjoyable, rewarding and if honest frustrating in equal measure.

I enjoyed reviving the Ross Christmas Fayre, creating The Proms in The Park and working on The Bands in the Park. I have also enjoyed being part of the Ross Mental Health Pilot - which has become the Ross Community Development Trust. I would also like to thank the Ross Education Fund, The Larruperz Centre and the Ross Sports Centre – each of these groups do excellent work and invited me to be a part of their organisations, which I’ve enjoyed.

I was saddened at the untimely deaths of Councillor Colin Gray and Councillor Jenny Hyde - two community minded individuals who were very welcoming to me and never took part in any political point scoring or negative campaigning. They both put the interests of residents at the forefront of their work.

There are many great things about our town in particular those that live work and volunteer here to make things better for us all. I would like to wish all candidates good luck irrespective of political party and express my thanks to those who I served with and to those members of the community I have had the pleasure of getting to know.

Despite disillusion with what appears to be election after election please vote on May 2nd and appoint people to our town who you can trust to represent your views. People fought and died for the right to vote - please don’t waste this opportunity.
