Dear Editor

I entirely agree with Mr Hanson’s recent letter. I can only hope that Lidl persist with their plans and that common sense eventually prevails. That is not to say that I think Lidl should be given an unqualified go-ahead, far from it.

In my view The Council should be looking positively at the basic plan but pressing very hard for significant changes to deal with traffic, noise, lighting and other environmental issues. We might then get a worthwhile addition to our infrastructure with limited environmental impact on the immediate area and the wider town. You never know, well thought throgh traffic measures might even reduce speeding in the area.
