Following the revelation of the 'biggest financial crisis' the council had faced in the 15 years since it became a unitary authority, according to the new Leader of the Council, Tony Johnson, it emerged that although Herefordshire Council will not close Ross Library. the way it is run will have to change.

Fears that the need to reset the budget which many residents and staff thought might have involved the loss of services, led to MP Jesse Norman calling a public meeting at the Larruperz Centre. This meeting, last Thursday, May 24th, was very well-attended by people in Ross.

The, then Leader of the Council, Councillor John Jarvis referred to the transfer of assets at Tudorville Community Centre. He said this had been a great success and it was possible that a similar scheme could be organised to set up a trust to run the Library.

There was a great deal of goodwill expressed in the room for the Library but many people were angry, as they thought they were at a meeting called to show their support for the Library. Others remarked that it could be very time consuming to set up a trust, especially one which would include a valuable building and contents.
