A new Automated External Defibrillator (AED) has recently been installed on the wall of the Tudorville & District Community Centre (TDCC). The cost has been met with help from donations from several local businesses.
Michelle Kings, Treasurer of TDCC, said: “It’s great to see local businesses and community groups all coming together and donating to such a vital piece of equipment which could be needed by any one of us in the future.”
Match funding was also received by the Hereford & Worcester First Responder Charity, sponsored by local charity Four Acre Trust, and supported by the West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS).
AEDs are key to increasing survival rates from sudden cardiac arrest, by delivering an electrical shock to the heart to restore the normal rhythm.
If a defibrillator is used and effective CPR is performed within three to five minutes of cardiac arrest, survival chances increase from just 6%, to a high 74%. The earlier a defibrillator is used, the better the chances of survival.
Donations have been gratefully received towards the cost of the defibrillator and the cost of installation from TDCC, the Tudorville Post Office, Audrey’s Fish Bar, Vine Tree Vets and the now defunct Tudorville Amateur Boxing Club (via Ian Gray).
An awareness event delivered by WMAS will be held on Tuesday, October 17th at 7:30pm, to show any interested parties how to use the defibrillator and to answer any questions.
This is open to the public so anyone living or working in the local community is welcome to attend. It will be held at the Tudorville Community Centre.
