MADAM, Twelfth Night having come and gone it's time to give a huge vote of thanks to both the Town Council and to the Association of Ross Traders for the hugely improved Christmas Lights that Ross has greeted people with this year.

ART owes a huge debt to Richard Mayo at Truffles for his efforts in encouraging and persuading shops to participate and then organising the trees and lights.

How fantastic to have a Christmas Tree in the Market Square again and let us hope the local constabulary can dissuade the drunks and vandals from spoiling it again next year.

The two trees lit up in Gloucester Road were sponsored in the main by ART and some individual members, with additional support from local bodies, but shopkeepers purses are quite limited. So ART would like to invite anyone else in the town, who feels that the would like to contribute to lighting up the town next Christmas, to make a donation.

There is one more tree in Gloucester Road and also some in Broad Street and of course the Christmas tree in the Market Square will need replacing next year. The lights don't need replacing year on year and they are LED so use a minute amount of power. If you would like to contribute please contact me at Crows Feet in Cantilupe Road, 01989 763698.

Howard Eldridge, Ross
