THE village of Linton is coming alive this Hallowe’en for its regular spooky appearance as more than 300 carved pumpkins will light up the village for the return of the much-loved community event.

The Light up Linton event taking place next Wednesday and Thursday, October 28 and 29, from 5pm to 8pm.

The two-day event invites families, friends and visitors to take a magical walk through the village and admire the amazing pumpkins, many of which have been lovingly carved and displayed by local volunteers.

The event is proudly supported by local businesses and brings the community together while raising money for three fantastic local charities.

It is expected that many young primary school pupils will be carving the seasonal gourds, along with an array of adult volunteers.

One of the special features of Light up Linton is the opportunity to sponsor your own pumpkin for a suggested donation of just £5.

Sponsors can have a dedication displayed in front of their pumpkin. These can be messages of thanks, the names of loved ones, special messages or simply something fun.

Visitors often enjoy walking around the village trying to find their dedication among the hundreds of illuminated pumpkins, making it a lovely and personal part of the evening.

Light up Linton is a community event organised with the aim of raising money for three amazing charities.

This includes EnviroAbility, which provides people from disadvantaged groups with real work opportunities and experiences that are valued and visible within the wider community; Girlguiding Herefordshire provides an empowering environment where girls can grow in confidence, develop new skills and build friendships and Walsingham Support, which has been supporting people with learning disabilities, autism, brain injuries and complex needs for 40 years.

Donations from Light up Linton will support Pound Farm in Gorsley and Creative Learning, the day opportunities centre in Ledbury.

The organisers are extremely grateful for any donations that can be made to support these three worthwhile causes.

The event is a welcome return for Light Up Linton as organisers had to cancel last year’s planned spooky extravaganza, due to poor pumpkin crops.

This year’s crop of pumpkins is likely to be slightly smaller than normal; due to the ongoing heatwaves the country suffered during the summer.

There will be food and drink available from Hanks, the Alma and Cotswold Crumb, along with competitions, prizes and plenty of Halloween fun.

If you would like to sponsor a pumpkin, the suggested donation is £5. Donations can be made by finding Light up Linton on GoFundMe, or by popping into The Alma Inn.

Visitors can also follow the Light up Linton Facebook page for updates about the event and information about how to get involved.

With hundreds of pumpkins, glowing displays, food, drink, games, prizes and plenty of Hallowe’en atmosphere, Light up Linton promises to be a magical couple of evenings for the whole community.
