The Lions Clubs of the British Isles are celebrating the 100th anniversary of Lions Clubs International: 100 years of proud service to our communities. They are delighted that their Patron, HRH, The Countess of Wessex G.C.V.O. will be hosting a Reception at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday, February 28th to help Lions Clubs mark this milestone.

No one is more excited than Mike Nelson, who will be representing Ross-on-Wye Lions Club at the Centenary Reception together with the organisations’ charity partners. He is one of the newest members of Ross Lions and has already made his mark by joining in Club activities, so the Club are looking forward to hearing about his experience at the Palace.

The Lions Club is well known in the Ross Community, due to its voluntary Service with things such as the Christmas Day Lunch and recycling of old Spectacles. They also, with the help of volunteers, organise the town’s Bonfire and Fireworks Display and are part of the forthcoming Rossbeerfest 2018. Thanks to their efforts, hundreds of pounds is raised to help good causes in Ross-on-Wye and the local area, often to those that cannot find help elsewhere.

Lions Clubs International support major projects that address diabetes, youth, the environment, hunger relief, childhood cancer and sight issues affecting communities throughout the world.
