Dear Editor,

As a regular visitor to the Garden of Remembrance, in the grounds of St Mary’s Church, to tend my parent’s gravestone, I am appalled by the litter left behind on and around the bench area at the bottom of the garden and the two seats at the top, on the bank.

People obviously go there to eat and smoke, leaving behind their cigarette butts, as well as food and drink containers all over the grass.

Perhaps if some litter bins were placed around the area, it might encourage people to dispose of their rubbish appropriately, as opposed to littering around an area that should be respected.
