Local author Richard Bemand, from Newent, was promoting his new Second World War fictional book on the day of the Carnival.

‘To Fly, To Fight and To Save’ is the story of a country pastor who becomes a fighter pilot. Having been taught to fly by his father, a young man has the urge to fly, but he also wants to progress in his Christian life. After three years at Bible College, during which time he makes a loving marriage proposal to his lifelong friend Ruth, he is appointed as the deputy Pastor of his village church.
