Maddie Morgan, who is 12 years old and from Ross-on-Wye, recently donated her hair to the Little Princess Trust in memory of her Aunty, Wendy Zeeman, who lost her battle to cancer nearly 16 years ago.
As a family, the Morgans decided they would try and raise some money for the charity alongside her haircut, through sponsors and a raffle.
Mum Mandy also said she would support Maddie by having her head shaved - if she could double her £500 target and raise £1,000. Mandy’s son Quinn also joined in on the action, saying that he would have his legs waxed if she reached £1,200.
On Thursday, July 26th, they announced that the total stood at a fantastic £1,254.65, and headed to Lorraine’s Salon in Ross-on-Wye.
Maddie took her seat in Lorraine’s and her Mum and Nan, Beryl Zeeman, took the first cut of her hair. Mandy then took the chair and Maddie and her friends took the shaver to her head! Lorraine finished it off, and also styled Maddie’s new shorter hair.
They then drew the raffle - having sold over 1,500 raffle tickets, with approximately 40 prizes up for grabs. Maddie pulled the first name from the pot and announced that Sherri Taylor was the winner of the top prize, a bottle of champagne kindly donated by Maddie’s Uncle Wayne Zeeman and Aunty Gemma Stanbury.
Then, on Friday July 27th, Quinn had his legs waxed by Amy Teague, and the total currently stands at an amazing £1,412.00.
Mandy said:?“We would like to the opportunity to thank everyone who has supported us, bought raffle tickets, donated prizes and sponsored us. A big thank you to Amy Teague of Amy Teague Nails and Beauty, all the local businesses who donated prizes, and Mandy Price of Mandy Moo’s.
“Also a massive thank you to Lorraine Davies of Lorraine’s Hairdressers - not only did she take on the task of cutting our hair, she has completely supported us all the way through getting sponsors and selling raffle tickets, being the base for prize drop offs, and using the salon as base for the event. Lorraine, Stacey and Charlotte were all fabulous and so supportive on the day.
“Thank you everyone. Without you we wouldn’t have achieved this fantastic amount for the Little Princess Trust.”
