The popular, well established Ross Hotel, Wilton Court, is on the market with a price tag of over £1 million.
Located on the banks of the River Wye with views towards Ross-on-Wye, this Grade II building dates back to the Elizabethan era and was once used as the local magistrates’ court.
Peter Brunt, a director in Colliers International’s Hotels Agency team, said the historic property retained much of its Elizabethan charm – notably mullioned windows, ancient wooden beams and original fireplaces.
He said: “Dating from the early 1500s, Grade II listed Wilton Court is just a few minutes’ drive from the M50 motorway offering easy and fast access to a large catchment population including South Wales, the Midlands and Greater Bristol.
“It boasts an intriguing history, stunning views of the River Wye and stylish décor throughout.
“The 11 letting rooms, cosy lounges and award-winning restaurant helped generate net sales of £579,000 in 2017. In addition, there is a private two-bedroomed cottage for the owners.”
He added that Wilton Court also offered further opportunities. “Our clients bought the hotel in 2000, and have over the years invested in the hotel to ensure it is well cared for and in an excellent position for their successors to take over and drive forward.”
“Looking to the future, the vendors have approval in principle to construct a new home in the garden, which would free up the existing cottage for commercial use subject to the usual planning consents.
“The Wye Valley continues to attract a wide range of visitors eager to enjoy the spectacular scenery and castles,” he added.
