Ross 1st XI travelled into the forest to play local rivals Lydney A in a game that was never going to disappoint.
Ross took the lead within five minutes, when quick thinking by Tom Walton was awarded as his aerial ball over the top of the Lydney defence was latched onto by Phil Evans, who coolly slotted the ball past the on rushing Lydney keeper.
Ross didn't make the most of this early goal and let a resurgent Lydney back into the game and they hit back with two goals in quick succession to take the lead.
Ross eventually managed to regain their composure and created several opportunities to draw level which they spurned. Ross eventually equalised from a short corner after Tom Walton flicked it into the back of the net to level the scores.
Ross were reduced to ten men a minute before half time as Luke Ward received a yellow card for deliberately breaking up skilful play by stopping the ball with his foot.
Ross made it into half time with the scores still level. With Ward off the pitch for ten minutes Tom Walton dropped into centre back and Adrian Williams was left to run line up front by himself.
Lydney piled on the pressure in this time trying to make the most of their numerical advantage but were unable to do so.
When Ward returned to the pitch Ross were able to take the game by the scruff and dominated possession and took the lead when Jamie Caulfield slipped the ball to Kristian Franklin inside the Lydney D and he slapped the ball into the bottom right hand corner of the goal.
This was a great moment for Franklin who was born and bred in Lydney.
Ross managed to see out the remaining minutes of the game to secure a vital 3 -2 victory to lift them to second in the table, one point behind league leaders Stroud.
A special mention also goes to Edward Goldsmith and Jake Heteyni who both made their debuts for the 1st XI in a bruising and physically demanding fixture and both had solid games.
The South Herefordshire Motorcaravans Man of the Match was awarded to Tom Walton for covering every blade of Astroturf and showed great strength and determination to carry on considering some of the tackles that were put into him.
