Crowds will be flocking in their thousands to this weekend’s RHS Malvern Spring Festival. With the unpredictable weather due to warm up as the week progresses, it promises to be a great occasion, with celebrity speakers headed by Mary Berry and Alan Titchmarsh.
Howle Hill Nursery is once again heavily involved in dressing the site for the RHS, with impressive indoor displays in the Severn Hall and Floral Marquee. Peter Dowle, managing director of Howle Hill Nursery told the Ross Gazette:?“It has been a very busy time for the team, with not only the site to dress for the RHS, but also a large show garden to design and build in a short space of time.”
He added: “The build team now head to Chelsea for the largest garden show on Earth, where we will once again be constructing and planting a main avenue show garden, designed by James Basson for the beauty giants, L’Occitane.”
The Malvern Garden, ‘A Japanese Reflection’, explores the technique of ‘Shakkei’, meaning borrowed landscape. The rolling Malvern Hills provide the backdrop, symbolising the constant and individual connection with the wider world. The garden draws its inspiration from the Japanese Tea Garden, where a connection to the wholeness of nature and our position within it is key.
Local stone cut from, and donated by, Birch Hill Quarry in the Forest of Dean, features heavily around the large water feature and is regularly used in Howle Hill Nursery private gardens due to its attractiveness and robust characteristics.
The RHS Malvern Spring Festival runs from May 5th to 8th at the Three Counties Showground, WR13 6NW. Tickets can be purchased on the door, at rhsmalvern.co.uk or call 01684 584924 for further information.
