Garden room
A PLANNING application has been made to Herefordshire Council to build a single storey garden room with an oak framed structure with slate covered roof at Upper Newton Farm in Welsh Newton.
The property, in the Llangarron Ward, aims to retain its original red sandstone and render infill panels to side walls of West entrance gable. REF: P240766/FH.
Yew tree
A RETIREMENT home in Ross is seeking permission to reduce the height and spread of a yew tree. The application, submitted on behalf of Ross Court Retirement Home in Ross Close, proposes reducing the crown of the yew tree by two metres and by doing this it will reduce its spread as well.
Currently the yew tree is over crowding a sycamore tree and is over-hanging neighbouring properties. It is also proposed that two other yew trees will be pruned back by one-and-a-half metres. REF: P240852/J.
Shepherd’s hut
PLANNING permission has been granted in creating a holiday let out of a Shepherd’s hut in Broad Oak.
The use of shepherd's huts by farmers reached a peak in the late 19th century but dwindled in the 20th century with the advent of mechanised farm machinery.
The hut, located in the grounds of Cwm Maddoc Farm, will provide a small-scale rural diversification for the owner and increase the tourism provision in the area.
It will retain its historical features of cast iron wheels, corrugated tin roof and exterior wooden panelling.
The planning officer stated that this in an appropriate location and the conversion would not affect the nearby listed dwelling.
Storage and office
A PROPOSAL to convert two agricultural buildings in Linton into storage and offices facilities for a construction company, have been submitted to local planners.
The application for the change of use on land at Barton Farm in Linton states that some of the cladding would be replaced, and new openings installed.
The applicant acknowledges that Burton Mill is a Grade II listed building, but as the proposals negligibly affect the appearance of the buildings and the site in general, there will be no impact on the setting. REF: P240542/F.
