A ROSS-on-Wye pub has won acclaim for the quality and standards of its toilets – in the Loo of the Year Awards 2025.

The Mail Rooms, a Wetherspoon pub in Gloucester Road, has been awarded a platinum plus grading by inspectors.

It is the second year in a row that the pub has achieved this top accolade in the Loo of the Year awards.

The awards are aimed at highlighting and improving standards of ‘away from home’ toilet provision across the UK and encourage the highest possible standards in all types of toilet facilities.

Loo of the Year Awards inspectors made unannounced visits to thousands of toilets at sites across the UK, in order to judge them.

All of the toilets are graded bronze, silver, gold, platinum, platinum plus or diamond with unacceptable toilets not graded at all.

The toilets are judged against numerous criteria, including décor and maintenance, cleanliness, accessibility, hand washing and drying equipment and overall management.

The Mail Rooms manager Kayleigh Taylor said: “We are delighted with the grading. Staff at the pub ensure the toilets are in excellent condition at all times and it is great that this has been recognised by the inspectors.”

The Loo of the Year Awards 2025 managing director, Becky Wall, said: “The toilets at The Mail Rooms have been designed and fitted out to a very high standard and are both clean and well maintained. The pub deserves its platinum plus grading.”

The awards competition receives sponsorship from a number of companies involved in providing products and services to washroom providers.

The competition was first introduced in 1987and has run annually, except for 1993.

The winner of the Individual UK Loo of the Year Trophy is selected from one of the eight national winners in the Public Toilet Entries.
