On Friday, September 29th, local girl Amber Teale, had her hair cut at Hair Perfection in Ross-on-Wye to raise money for the Little Princess Trust.
The Little Princess Trust is a children’s cancer charity, who work with suppliers and hairdressers to offer real hair wigs, tailored to individual children suffering with cancer across the UK and Ireland. Based in Hereford, they also assist children with other conditions which result in hair loss, such as alopecia.
Amber is 11 years old and has just started at John Kyrle High School, having previously attended Ashfield Park Primary School. She is really enjoying JKHS and all of her subjects.
Amber has not had her hair cut properly since she was five years old, only trimmed.
Speaking to Amber, she said: “I’m mostly excited, and only a little bit nervous.”
Watching her have her haircut were her Mum Teresa, Grandma Pat, and her younger sister Tilly, 5.
Mum Teresa, said: “Amber hasn’t slept the last couple of nights because she’s been too excited. I’m more nervous than she is!”
Her Mum continued: “Amber already wanted her hair cut short, so when one of her friends got her hair cut for the Little Princess Trust - she decided to get it done. She’s a very bright girl.”
Amber and her Mum have not asked for sponsors but kindly ask that if you would like to donate, pots will be situated at Hair Perfection, the Hope & Anchor pub and at Cafe Eazz. They have already raised over £60 from friends and family members, as well as donating Amber’s hair.
