A WOMAN dedicated to keeping her town litter free went on a picking spree and collected numerous bags of rubbish and the remains of a printer.
Sandra Brown was told about the litter that has accumulated under the foot bridge close to Ross Rowing Club and armed with all her equipment to the location before heading to the ‘pebbly beach’ where she and others collected half a bag of rubbish before fishing out some cans out of the brook close to the swimming pool bridge.
This is when she spotted a printer that had been dumped, but couldn’t reach it. However, a man appreciating what Sandra was trying to, borrowed the long litter picker tool and hooked the printer out.
Sandra later deposited the glass bottles in the nearby bottle bank.
Sandra and her helpers then walked to the recycling centre, to put the ‘printer’ where it should have gone. into the small electrical items skip. Undeterred Sandra then continued her mission with more brook litter picking, on both sides, between Trenchard Street and Homs Road carpark before emptying her bag again. She then headed to the bridge that goes over the brook, which is currently dry and she was able to climb down and get all the litter, which required more than a carrier bag to remove it.
Sandra then returned to the pebbly beach where she found among the rubbish and filled two carrier bags with rubbish and broken glass.
Further along the river, where it goes under the A40, she observed that an old shopping trolly had been abandoned along with three tyres and an old television, but because of the size of these items she was unable to remove them.
All the rubbish was disposed of appropriately with the discarded vapes being taken to the recycling centre.
