If you are out and about in Ross on Saturday afternoon, September 29th you may be lucky enough to see one of the world's greatest aircraft, and a piece of British history. Delta Lady XH558's famous howl may be heard over Ross providing weather conditions and aircraft serviceability allow. The only Vulcan still flying will take off on a three-hour sortie to commemorate Sixty Glorious Years of the Avro Vulcan. The flight will include a tour of various airports near to sites that played a significant part in their development or service life.
But the Vulcan XH558 will also be flying over Ross to pay tribute to one of the early supporters of the preservation of the aircraft, Peter Williams. His memorial service is being held at Bishopswood Village Hall on Saturday and the Vulcan is expected to fly over Ross, circle over Bishopswood Village Hall and fly on to Staverton Airport.
