A Volvo articulated HGV negotiating the roundabout at the junction of the A40, A449 and M50 overturned at 6.50pm on Monday, January 12th, 2009. The lorry then shed most of its load of metal tubing across the carriageway/verge between the M50 exit and A40 start, known as the Traveller's Rest roundabout.

The driver sustained a cut to the head and dislocated scapula which required hospital treatment.

The Fire Brigade attended to deal with a diesel spillage. The position of the lorry across the roundabout meant diversions had to be put in place for several hours. The roads were finally re-opened at 1am when the vehicle and load had been recovered.

Police would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident.

Anyone with information should contact Sgt Tim Hargraves at Ross Police Station on 0300 333 3000.
