The owner of two sheep, a ewe and a male lamb, which have been rounded up in Peterstow is being sought by local farmer, Adam Cordy.
On Wednesday, June 23rd, Adam's neighbour rang to ask if he had lost two sheep as they were wandering around the village. They tried to pen the creatures so that they could read the ear tags but unfortunately the animals took fright and went on a tour, including taking a walk up the middle off the A49. Eventually they turned off the road and by sheer coincidence ran into a field owned by Adam.
He has read the ear tag on the ewe and reported it to the police and the Animal Help department at Herefordshire Council.
Although the council was able to identify the last place the ewe was from the farmer there, in South Wales said he had not lost any sheep. Adam said this could be because they had been taken to market and sold or escaped from a new owner. Adam said although the ram lamb is in good condition they are more of a nuisance than they are worth. He is worried that they might pass something on to his flock.
He is putting notices up around the area and contacting as many people as he can to try and find the owners. After 28 days he will then decide whether to send them to market or take them into his own flock.
If anyone knows who owns the pair of runaway sheep please telephone Adam on 07713 632482.
