As reported on page 2 of this week's Ross Gazette an article in the Guardian last weekend has sparked a wide-ranging debate about the merits of living in Ross.

Councillor Andrew Atkinson wrote to the Ross Gazette.

He said: "I was appalled at the weekend to see such negative comments on the Guardian newspapers website regarding Ross-on-Wye from some residents.

"The article was featuring Ross as a place to live and was largely positive.

"Ross is a beautiful town that I am proud to call home after choosing to live here. Lots of people are working hard to make Ross even better as of course it has suffered over the years like many towns.

"I am working with others on a big project to make our markets a real attraction. The May Fayre was unbelievably successful with for the second time people dancing in the streets!
