Local motorbike racer Luke Jones, rode HM Plant Honda's CBR 1000cc Fireblade in the Metzeler National Superstock 1000cc championships at Oulton Park, Cheshire last weekend July 16th and 17th, and was part of the most successful team there.
Luke was in the company of HM Plant's super bike riders Shane Byrne, Ryuichi Kiyonari, and apart from the weather, which caused three meetings to be cancelled, enjoyed the weekend. He had practise and qualifying on Friday and qualifying on Saturday. His times improved the more he rode the bike, and he ended up 23rd on the grid on Sunday out of 48 riders.
Unfortunately the race on the Sunday was reduced to 14 laps due to the weather, and then stopped after only four laps because of an accident. Luke ended up 18th but it was an experience that he and his team will always remember.
The next Triumph Triple Challenge meeting is at Brand's Hatch on August 5th, 6th and 7th.
