Yesterday (Thursday 17 July), a man was charged and sentenced to six months in prison for nine burglaries committed in Ross-On-Wye town centre over the past six weeks.

Douglas Davies, 34, from Welsh Newton, Monmouth appeared at Hereford Magistrates Court where he pleaded guilty to the nine offences, which were all committed whilst released from Cardiff Prison, on licence.

Items stolen in the burglaries included cash, iPads, laptops and computers.

Both uniformed and CID police officers worked together to make the arrest, after locating the suspect near to Ross-On-Wye town centre.

DS Andy Bennett, leading the investigation, said: "We are committed as a team to preventing and detecting these crimes that have a huge impact on our rural communities. Our teams strive to reassure our communities that we are working behind the scenes, as well as in uniform, to reduce the threat of crime and bring any offenders to justice to make our towns and villages safer."
