Map Attak Orienteering Club ventured out to Moseley Green in the Forest of Dean for their first league event of the season.

The three teams : George, Skyler, and CJ; Alecia, Kia and Rosie; George, Oliver and Christian all ran on the beginners' 'yellow' course, put on especially for Map Attakby North Gloucestershire Orienteering Club. Some older Map Attak members also ran on the Orange Course in preparation for the inter-club Compass Sport Championships early next year.

The weather was perfect for running. After a slightly shaky start, the boys found control point 1 at the corner of a ruined wall. Reading the map more closely, they followed a fence line to control 2 before heading east along a forest track where they quickly found control 3 at the foot of a crag. Climbing up to control 4 they then moved north east through the wood to control 5. A little over-confident they sped past the small path which would have taken them west to control 6. They were soon back on track though and ran at pace to control 7 and onto the finishing post.

All the children performed well with some being more prepared to run independently in pairs at the final three events. New members, of all ages, are welcome to join the league. For more information call 01432 840515.
