People in Ross will be able to get expert assistance this week to help them create their own entry in the competition to design Herefordshire’s official flag.

Jon Williams of Eastnor Pottery and Jacqui Grange of Creative Solutions will be at The Ryefield Centre on Thursday, February 21st (10.30am to 3.30pm) giving masterclasses to potential flag-designers.

One or both of the artists will conduct 50-minute workshops beginning hourly on each half-hour up to 2.30pm.

“We want this to involve everyone, young, old and in between,” says Herefordshire Flag Committee chairman, David Marshall. “But it is particularly important to involve the young both as voters and potential winners. We hope that teachers and parents will take the chance to tell children about where they live and why it’s such a terrific place.”

The winning flag is expected to be unveiled at a ceremony in Hereford in the autumn.

Entry forms and guidelines for the competition can be downloaded from www.the-shire.co.uk/herefordshireflag and are also available in hard copy from public libraries. Anyone with queries can email [email protected].
