The Mayor of Ross-on-Wye, Cllr Harry Bramer, began his 10-day sponsored walk on July 30th in aid of a local charity, Papyrus.

The walk began at the start of the River Thames and finishes at Teddington Lock where it becomes tidal – a distance of 151 miles. Walking on his own, having pre-booked places to stay during his trip, he will arrive at Teddington on Friday, August 10th.

Mayor Bramer told the Ross Gazette: “I am delighted to have been elected as the Mayor of Ross-on-Wye this year. In my Mayoral year I have been asked to select the Mayor’s charity and I selected Papyrus, the small, but national charity, for the prevention of young suicides.

“This charity is little known but a very worthy cause and I have only a few months in which to try to raise its profile. The charity is most poignant as it was started in Ross-on-Wye several years ago following a family tragedy.”

He added: “Please check out the details and donate if you can to support this really most worthwhile charity. All donations are very welcome.”
