The? Mayor of Ross-on-Wye, Cllr Harry Bramer, began his 10-day sponsored walk on July 30th in aid of a local charity, Papyrus.
The walk began at the start of the River Thames and will finish at Teddington Lock where it becomes tidal – a distance of 151 miles.
Mayor Bramer told the Ross Gazette:?“The walk is progressing well and in spite of the fierce heat, it is possible to set off at around 5am to beat the worst heat of the day.
“I am amazed at the great generosity of those that I have spoken to about Papyrus - the charity that seeks to prevent young suicides. Donations from perfect strangers, such as hotel proprietors, lock keepers and bar staff, have all added to the current walk total of nearly £600 - with more I hope to come!”
Walking on his own, having pre-booked places to stay during his trip, Mayor Bramer will arrive at Teddington Lock on Friday, August 10th.
