All was quiet on the streets of Ross at about 4pm on Saturday, December 20th, but within a short time, the bright weather, and the promise of an early visit from Father Christmas brought crowds of happy families to the Market Place.

They lined Broad Street in anticipation of the annual visit by the great man himself, who this year was joined on his float by the Carnival Princess and the Gruffalo. A large number of Cubs, Scouts, Rainbows, Brownies and Guides led the procession with their special torches.

Ross Town Band led the carol singing, Brian Jackson welcomed everyone and introduced the Mayor, Councillor Colin Gray, and thanked the Young Farmers of Welsh Newton who distributed goody bags to all the children. Father Christmas spoke to every child and posed for photographs.
