A Ross-on-Wye church is due to close its doors following a congregation meeting.
Following a meeting of Christ Church, a decision was agreed to close the church building on the August 31, 2022.
The decision was confirmed by the church council that immediately followed the congregational meeting.
It is belirved that the church had become financially unsustainable and was unable to keep its doors open as a result.
The building’s managing trustees will subsequently make a decision on the sale of the building. To comply with the localism act, the church would first be marketed to local community organisations.
A service of thanksgiving is planned to take place for the mission and ministry of the Local Ecumenical Partnership and the two congregations that came together will be held. The date for the thanksgiving has not yet been set. The church plans on helping its members find a new congregation to join. Other community groups who make use the building are also being helped to find new premises to meet in. Ross Meeting Centre have already found a potential new home, and this will be announced once plans have been finalised.
The Hereford South and East Circuit is part of the Methodist Church; whose mission is to help people to grow and learn as Christians, through mutual support.
