The vocal talents of the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean will be on display for all to hear at Taurus Crafts ‘Midsummer Song’ event on Sunday, June 17th.

Now in its second year, the event features a diverse range of local choirs and singing groups, this year they will be joined by local poets & spoken word performances. The scene is set to entertain the crowds in style; with a covered seating area, local ice creams, chilled prosecco, delicious cream teas and a summer barbecue.

Singing on the day will be The Singing Club, Chepstow Chatelaines, Forest Singers, Mathern Choir, Newnham George Choir, and Springfield Singers. As part of the 10-year celebrations surrounding Coleford Festival of Words, visitors will also get the chance to see local poet and Forest Bard Maggie Clutterbuck, who will be sharing her new work, Full Circle, an engaging and lively poetry performance from the Forest’s Poets in Progress (PIPs), Young Author Bryony Pearce talks pirates for the youngsters, and the audience will get a chance to vote on the best poetry readings in a mini-slam.

Visitors keen to test out their own vocal talents can join in one of the free taster workshops.  In these sessions, professionals will help you sing effectively and learn techniques to improve your repertoire, no experience necessary and all welcome.

“Choirs are always very popular at our Christmas Markets, so we thought it would be great to dedicate a day to local singing groups and provide a platform for them to showcase their outstanding talents.”

The event is from 11am - 4pm at Taurus Crafts, Forest of Dean, Lydney, GL15 6BU. Free entry.
