Madam, I would like to express my disgust for the mindless vandalism that took place at the new Ross rugby ground in Greytree.
We, like all the other businesses concerned, paid a substantial amount of money for our advertising boards around the pitch. We did this, along with donating the fencing, to help raise funds and the profile of the rugby club who have enjoyed considerable success over the past few seasons. As well as raising our own profile by advertising around the pitch, the sponsors are all supporting a local Ross club, and this raises not only the profile of the club, but of the town of Ross itself. What must Tewkesbury Rugby Club and its supporters have thought of our town when they saw the state of the pitch on Saturday? Times are tough at the moment, and to see nearly £3000 worth of advertising boards, all paid for by local companies vandalised in this way leaves me absolutely disgusted.
It is hard to believe how small minded some people can be. Ross Rugby Club has some great plans for the future, including developing a junior section, and this will rely on future sponsorship and support from the town. I hope whoever has done this is ashamed of themselves and now realises that the damage is more than just material.
