MADAM, As Vice Chairman of the Friends of Ross Hospital, I would like to thank each and every resident of Ross and surrounding areas, who has signed the petition in protest of the reduced opening hours of the Minor Injuries Unit at Ross Hospital.
After the public meeting it was quite clear that the Wye Valley NHS Trust do not want to rescind their decision and therefore we must continue our fight.
If you have not signed the ongoing petition, then you can do so in many various shops in the town, the doctor's surgeries or online at Herefordshire County Council's website.
Jill Davies, Ross.
MADAM, I read with interest the letter last week signed by our Liberal Democrat town councillors, regarding the changes to the MIU unit at Ross Hospital. I immediately made a telephone call to Cllr Atkinson to ask him why he and the other councillors had not signed the letter. Cllr Atkinson told me that they had not been given the opportunity to do so.
He also informed me that all the town councillors unamimously supported the hospital campaign. If all 12 of the councillors support the campaign, the Liberal Democrats writing a letter about their support is nothing more than a cheap party political reminder that they are still around.
The hospital is the real issue here and it needs all of our support to return it to how it was. Petty politics will not achieve that, and I hope that they will include all of the councillors in future, of all parties.

MADAM, regarding MI Unit meeting: Why were the Wye Valley Trust Board Members told that the closure of the MIU was nothing to do with funding? How can reducing the number of Nurses in the MIU be nothing but to do with funding?
I think the Board really ought to be honest with the people of Ross and stop treating the staff at the Hospital so poorly. We all know what a Minor Injuries Unit is for.... Minor Injuries, so let the Nurses do the job they were trained for 8 am till 8 pm, seven days a week. To tell the Board one thing and do another is not constructive to the Board Members or the public.
As was mentioned at the meeting last Tuesday, Wye Valley Trust closed the MIU in four days so why can't they reopen it in 4 days?
