Eleanor Kercher of Made in Ross, the artists’ collective based in the Market House, gave a progress report to the Ross Town Council on Monday, April 11th. She said that in under 11 months the turnover had been around £23,000, weekends are busier that during the week and the months of December and July had been the busiest.

She said that footfall counters indicated that there had been 12,000 visitors and there is a waiting list of artists and makers who would like to be considered for inclusion.

She added that the committee is concentrating on marketing and publicity as there are still many people in Ross who are unaware of the artists at the Market House. She said: "We are trying lots of different ideas and way to reach people and we are very grateful to the Ross Gazette and other organisations for their support."

Future events include an exhibition by a former Mayor of Ross, John Penny in June and the Market House is being filmed as part of a television news item regarding all the cities which have applied to be a City of Culture. As Hereford’s bid is countywide the work the Courtyard is involved with in Ross is being included.

Eleanor added that being a TIS as part of the Ross Tourism Association is working well. She said lots of visitors use the files to book accommodation or to find out about places to visit.
