After the huge success of the Ross Gazette’s campaign to raise funds for a new Ross Action Bus the paper is now backing a drive for more volunteers.
The bus needs a driver and companions to accompany the elderly or disabled passengers. There is a particular need for a driver to take on the trip from Weston under Penyard. The bus has been to see the Christmas lights and now the passengers are looking forward to getting out to see the spring flowers.
President Rosemary Rigby told the Ross Gazette that it would be very helpful if they could get a couple of volunteer drivers so that there could be one on standby if needed.
She said the previous driver had been volunteering for 25 years, but has now moved away.
She said: “We have some wonderful companions and drivers but need a few more, it is no good having this comfortable new bus if we cannot use it. We need more volunteers to help keep the wheels turning.”
With the start of spring, if anyone is looking for something to do to help the community and do something very enjoyable at the same time please contact Rosemary Rigby on 01981 540477.
