A wedding organised at short notice at Weston under Penyard Church demonstrated both the quirkiness and the community spirit of local people and included one very special guest, Moses the donkey.
Moses is the beloved pet of bride, Charlotte Bailey, and as she planned her wedding she knew that he had to be part of her special day.
When Matthew Sullivan asked Charlotte, his fiancée of four years, what she wanted for her 40th birthday her answer was to get married – at only three and a half weeks' notice.
Charlotte said: "It was really a series of co-incidences and the kindness of a few people that made it happen.
Matt wanted a small register office wedding but I called Reverend Neil Patterson at Weston, whom I know, and asked him if he had space for us." Space was not the only thing that animal-lover Charlotte requested of Reverend Neil, she also had to ask if she could bring one of the dogs and Moses, the donkey.Read the full story in this week's Ross Gazette
